Our infographic focuses on the newest GoPro action camera, theHero4. Our main goal with this infographic is to inform the audience about the new, amazing features of this GoPro, while persuading them to buy this camera. In order to persuade people to buy it, we tried to keep the infographic very simple- demonstrating how easy the Hero4 is to use, while showing all of the incredible things it can do. Therefore, the targeted audience would mainly be people who want to buy a high class action camera, but they don’t know much about the GoPro.
One of the earliest design choices that went into designing this visual was the color scheme. We decided to use bright shades of red, yellow, and blue, with a solid black background. This emphasizes the individual aspects of the visual, because the bright colors pop out at you, and the background doesn’t distract the audience from the information. This is best illustrated by the “Share Your World” section at the bottom of the visual. The images are faded, which focuses the audience on them, with the slogan: Share Your World written across e the images.
One of the more challenging design decisions went into the layout. We wanted to keep the infographic really simple, while providing a lot of information to persuade the audience to buy it. Therefore, we decided to divide the infographic into different sections, highlighting the main points of that section. This gives us the simplicity and organization that we wanted in order to display the information. The most information was displayed at the top of the visual under the What Does it Do and Accessories section. By separating this information into these sections, it’s easy to read and understand.
Another aspect used to keep the infographic simple and highlight main points was by color fading the images. The images we want the audience to focus on are faded with the same color scheme as the rest of the infographic. This directs the audiences’ attention to those images, and it adds more emphasis on the color scheme. This is best illustrated by the “Share Your World” section at the bottom of the visual. The images are faded, which focuses the audience on them, with the slogan: Share Your World written across e the images. The pictures of the GoPro itself are left un-faded, to show the complete structure and design of the GoPro.
Throughout the development of this infographic, we were challenged with a lot of decisions unrelated to design. Originally, we were going to choose a topic based on coffee or caffeine, but we weren’t sure how to set this infographic up, so we switched topics to the new GoPro impulsively. I think this benefited us, because the design of this infographic went really smoothly and turned out great. Also, it is always challenging to work with someone else on a project, especially when you have different ideas and must incorporate these ideas together. Whenever we were discussing design choices, we did really well at incorporated our different ideas together, and making adjustments based on what worked well and what didn’t.
